Are purported alien visitations a modern day space age myth?

The space age was about to begin in the late 1940's, at a time of the flying saucer craze. It was initially thought that flying saucers were a secret weapon. The first sighting was in 1947. The cold war was at its infancy. There were al kinds of misidentifications, such as weather balloons, satellites, even flock of birds. Isn' t possible that UFO's are modern day space age phenomenon or are aliens really curious about us?

UFO believers would have you believe that this insignificant little planet of ours is the crossroads of the universe. Hardly true.
Also, have you noticed that since the advent of cheap digital cameras and camera cell phones, UFO sightings have dropped off to nothing? Makes me wonder.
